Unfortunately there is not much progress on this issue and the Traffic Light controlled, single carriageway and barriers are set to remain in place until the legals arguments of ownership are resolved.
On the west side where the wall has actually collapsed the ownership has been disputed and SCC await the completion of work by the Land Registry prior to taking any appropriate enforcement action. A structural report on the whole wall to establish risks has been commissioned and remains outstanding.
On the eastern side the local property owners have delivered further documentation to SCC which is being examined by their own Legal Department. Once that is clarified it will be possible to decide what action is necessary to take and where the responsibility lies.
In addition the lighting pole close to the steps has been judged inappropriate and SSE have been asked to resolve this.
