Currently, as part of Government Policy, each District Council is charged with formulating a Local Development Plan for its area which covers a wide range of issues which affect the communities including how people are consulted on planning matters such as applications for new development.
When Somerset Unitary Council takes the place of the District councils on April 1st 2023 it needs to develop a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the whole of Somerset which will ‘ ensure a consistent approach to how we engage with our communities on planning matters’
A new DRAFT document has been prepared and input is being sought from organisations and members of the public in a consultation process which will run from 1st February 2023 to 16th March 2023. The comments from process will be examined and the document will be refined and taken forward for adoption later in 2023.
