The outcome of the recent consultation on the number of Local Community Networks (LCN’s) that will be created to support the new Somerset Unitary Council has been communicated.
Abbas and Templecombe will be part of the LCN number 10 (Wincanton) on the map shown below – it is coloured in purple on the right hand side of the map.

In total this LCN consists of 34 parishes including Wincanton, Castle Cary, Bruton and Henstridge with all of the surrounding villages.
There will be a total of 18 LCN’s in the new organisation and they in effect replace the five former District Councils in their role as consultation bodies to advise the Unitary Council on local matters. Unlike the previous District Councils they will have no decision powers and no budget responsibility (except for the administration costs to run them).
More information on the role of LCN’s is available on our page
