February Update on A357 Damaged Walls

The latest update received from SCC, the responsible party dealing with this issue:-

Please note that this is not something the Parish Council can influence in any way other than by being persistent in asking for progress updates.

‘West Side adjacent to Kington View
13th  February 2023:
In addition to the previous updates, there have been delays to any HA1980 S167
notices and advice being sent out, I am unsure of what the delays on that are and
that still resides with the SCC legal dept.  I have made use of the SCC Structures
dept framework contract and met with one of their contractors in mid January so they
could provide a quote for minimal/temporary works.  This quote has been received
and should SCC instruct them, following the HA1980 S167 legal requirements, they
can mobilise at short notice to carry out the works with an indicative timescale of 4
weeks work.’

Due to the nature of that work there will be a requirement to remove
the temporary pedestrian walkway, therefore a pedestrian diversion would be in
place along Bowden Road, Westcombe, Vine Street.

‘East side
13th  February 2023:
In addition to points mentioned in 10th  January update, I am still waiting further
information from SCC legal on the matter regarding ownership, the site meeting in
mid January also included for a quote for repairs to this side of the wall and will
therefore be part of the program of works to the West side (adjacent to Kington View) when
they are commenced.’
